Serious traffic crash, Sunshine Coast

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a serious four-vehicle traffic crash at Doonan last night.

Initial investigations indicate just before 6pm, a black Holden Rodeo was travelling south on Walter Hay Drive when it crashed into a black Audi S3 travelling in the opposite direction.

The impact caused the Audi to veer onto the south side of the road, where it collided with a white Hyundai Palisade.

The Holden continued on the incorrect side of the road before crashing into a black Ford Ranger.

The driver of the Holden, a 21-year-old Sunrise Beach man, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Ford, a 63-year-old Noosaville man, was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigations are continuing.

The Queensland Police Service is committed to reducing number of lives lost on our roads.

Data shows that serious crashes can be significantly reduced when drivers recognise and avoid the ‘Fatal Five’ behaviours: speeding, drink and drug driving, not wearing seatbelts, fatigue and distraction.
